Green Smoothie

Ok, usually when I think of green smoothies I remember the Cheers episode when Woody remarks “You can really taste the Kale!”

Jokes aside, there are lots of excellent reasons to drink your veggies and fruits.  And I have been totally inspired by Kris Carr and the amazing job she has done promoting healthy diet and living.

So, what is so great about green smoothies?  They are packed with nutrients that we all need to stay healthy and fight off disease.  If blended, instead of processed in a juicer, they are a good source of fiber.  It is usually best to get your vitamins and minerals from real food rather than supplements.  They may just be essential to optimum health –a goal I strive for.   Basically, all indications point to the green smoothie!

So now my challenge.

1. Get used to drinking “green”.  I love smoothies.  Have not tried a green one.  Yet.

2. Drink one a day every day, then two, then three.  Yup, I would like to have one green smoothie before each meal.  That means by the end of the month of May, I aim to be drinking 3 green smoothies a day.

3. Observe.  I want to document the changes that occur -how I feel, what foods I start to crave or no longer want, do I have more energy?

4. Share.  Along the way I will be posting musings, recipes and suggestions.
