Live with Intention

Are you hoping to change something about your current life situation?  Maybe you would like to start a new career, get more healthy, or just meet some new people.  Whatever it is that you want, the first step is to see clearly.  And I have three steps to get you on your path.

The first step is to notice.  Notice, what is working and what’s not working in your life.  What is draining your energy, what lights you up with inspiration?  You probably already feel these things on a subtle level.  If you haven’t taken the  time to write these things out, then do that now.  It won’t be easy or comfortable.  Just warning you.

The next step is to choose.  Out of all the things you want choose one to focus on.  Making a decision is crucial to breaking out of the frustrating cycle of uncertainty and inertia that goes along with it.  Write out what you really want and write down all the reasons you *can’t* do this now.

And now just cross all those reasons out.

Now make a list of how you CAN do it.  What needs to be done to get you what you want: To position yourself where you want to be.  To be doing what is right for you?  It might not be stuff you can do immediately, but if it’s major change you want, then you need to do some planning and expect it to take time.

You see, for anything you really want to do, there is a way.  Anytime you say you *can’t* you’re really just saying you don’t want to.  Think of all the times you vaguely tell someone, “sorry, I can’t….” are those things you really, really want?  Probably not.

“Sorry, I can’t” is a powerful, socially acceptable and polite way to get out of things.

But please, don’t do it to yourself and don’t do it to your dream.

Finally, act.  Take action, be the change, do what needs to be done to get your list done.  Think in terms of daily tasks and monthly foci.  Ultimately, you are setting yourself up to win.  To achieve your goals and live with intention.  Leave a comment to let me know what you want to achieve and how you’re going to do it!
